Dr. Sell graduated
with honors and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Gannon
University and his M.D. degree from Temple University Health Sciences
Center in Philadelphia in 1980. He completed his general surgery
internship and residency at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh in 1985.
He completed a fellowship in GasSociety, the Allegheny County Medical
Society, and the Politically Active Physicians Association.
Dr. Sell is the Academic Chief of Gastrointestinal surgery at Mercy Hospital
of Pittsburgh and is also Deputy Chief of the Division of General Surgery.
He has been a member of the teaching faculty since 1986 and is the recipient
of numerous resident teaching awards. He also maintains active staff
membership at UPMC Passavant Main and Cranberry division. Dr. Sell has
published numerous articles in the area of Gastrointestinal surgery and
related topics and is the author of three book chapters in a rectal textbook.
He continues to be active in the training of surgical residents at Mercy
Hospital of Pittsburgh and also acts as a faculty preceptor for physician
assistant students at Duquesne University, Chatham College and others.
He has continued to be a leader in the medical community in the tri-state
area.
